[The kiss to his neck causes him to shiver, but oddly enough it seems that the physical is easier than some of the words, and it's certainly more natural than he thought it might be.
He lets his eyes close for a moment, their foreheads pressed together as they just bask in each other's warmth, and there is another warmth building in him. This is definitely more important that the next draft of his chapter--]
I could use the chance to study something new. [And he leans in for another kiss, this time a bit more sure.]
[Amal comes back to their shared house after a busy afternoon. He's carrying a couple of plastic bags with him, and judging by the smell that leaks from the kitchen, it's Mediterranean food again. He's dressed slightly more modestly than usual, though his long silk tunic is still left open to show most of his chest, with leggings and strappy gladiator heels to finish it off. He sure loves fashion. (Whether that fashion is any good, however, is up for debate.)
Then he knocks on Raha's door.]
Hey, I brought home dinner. Want to watch something while we eat?
[He's gone so far native that he finally relented and got a flat screen for the living room, so one can entertain on the Turkish couch and also be entertained.]
[The timing is good, Raha having been considering taking a break from his work to eat, and whatever Amal's brought back smells wonderful. He opens the door with a smile-- and frankly Amal's wandered around the house in far less clothing before, so he's adjusting to that much.]
That sounds nice. Do you have something in mind?
[He moves out into the room, going to get them some utensils and things, as well as starting the kettle]
[At least Raha never has to look far if he wants an eyeful of something, lol.]
Um... [Maybe not his usual disastrous cooking shows.] Maybe we can find one of your favorite movies on the... net thing? [The Netflix thing.] I want to learn about all the things you like.
[He knows Raha likes books, but there's surely more than that!!!!
He spreads the food out on the counter and starts popping spoons into things for serving.]
[He'll go ahead and pull up Netflix, searching through to see what's available- it's not a movie, exactly, but he's always had a nostalgic soft spot for the various BBC mystery series.
Once he's got that set up, he'll help with getting the food ready, and then settling down with the Amal on the sofa.]
[It doesn't have to be a movie. He's honest about wanting to learn more about what Raha likes. After all, he's not exactly the same as the one Amal knew back home-- like a cake with an extra layer. Once they've gotten the food properly sorted, he happily curls up beside the Miqo'te so they're side-touching-side. It's all very warm and familiar, and very comforting besides.]
Oh, this is interesting.
[He likes a good mystery!]
These are considered historical clothes on this world, right? It's not my style, but I can see you pulling off the coat the detective is wearing.
any panic vanishes and raha can't help by smile. it still takes him a moment to compose an answer, trying to figure out how to be as reassuring as possible.]
you don't need my permission to do that.
but of course i'll support you in any way you need.
[Of course he'd say something like that. But even Amal, as dumb as he is, knows that what affects one of them affects both of them.]
awww raha....
thank you so much. your opinion means a lot to me
i'm not sure what i need to do besides a lot of paperwork. i guess you could help me with that???? i'm not very organized when it comes to stuff like this..... as you've probably noticed
i still need to ask varian about it but i'm sure he'll say yes
[and... also possibly with finding ways around the background checks that that is sure to come with. though given varian also isn't from here... either way, they'll work it out.]
i'm sure he will. does he need anything to be comfortable here more permanently?
[Amal's ID says he's from Canada. Thankfully he hasn't tried driving despite it being a drivers license. Just what was Zodiac thinking with that one, he'll never know.]
i already bought him and fern some more clothes
but i think varian would be happiest if he had a place to build stuff
we have that shed we're not doing anything with, what do you think about converting that into a safe place for him to do stuff? we can put wards on it so it doesn't make noise or catch on fire, that sort of thing
I'm positive. [He eats a bite, then adds:] It reminds me of the clothes I saw in Sharlayan. Not the big white robes with the hat, but pretty much everything else looked a bit like this. I can't say I disapprove of corsets either, but I don't see as many of those here.
[Amal tends to wear only the corset when it's an option. God, that purr is distracting though. It makes him want to rub against Raha like a cat unironically.]
I think you're onto something with that. I saw a stage play many moons ago, when I first got here. It was a murder mystery and a bit lacking in budget, but it was fun. It also had songs. Songs! In a play about murder! Amazing.
[He waves his empty fork.]
They didn't reveal the killer until the very end, but they had us cheering for them all the same.
[He takes a drink of water and sits back again.]
I tend to prefer adventures or romances if I'm given a choice. I've a weakness for the ones involving a prince atop a white chocobo. Or... horse. Whichever.
[i mean amal could tell him to put something on and he's probably at least try it--]
A musical murder mystery? That does sound fun. [man he actually hasn't really gone to any local shows while he's been here... it's not exactly been a priority, unfortunately.]
I can see that. [He chuckles softly, looking fondly over to him.] Are you the type to picture yourself in them at all?
[Amal looks back over to see that smile, and can't help blushing a bit more.]
Before I went to the First, I didn't think that could ever... happen. [He sets his food on the coffee table and leans back.] I thought—if I messed up and needed rescuing, no one would come after me. Either because they couldn't, or...
[He thought he was disposable.]
Well. I didn't think too highly of myself, as you can guess.
So it was a little wild to find out that someone would break the laws of time and space just to help me. [He reaches over to rub Raha's hand.] Though I'd have done the same for you, no question about that.
In a way, the you from the past really did sweep me off my feet. I landed in the middle of the woods instead of naked in your chambers, but that's a minor detail.
