[Raha opens his mouth to protest- in a very 'don't talk about my friend like that' way- but he doesn't wind up saying anything immediately, hand staying firmly in Amal's as he tries to think of the right way to respond. He did know, a bit, that Amal had hardly always been on the straight and narrow, but not that Amal was particularly ashamed of parts of it. (And a part of him wonders why the hell he would have been sent to jail, he was still basically a child, shouldn't that have counted for something--?)
